Mcr quilt workshop

I was invited to create a workshop inspired by the Manchester Quilt Exhibition at Elizabeth Gaskell's House.

The Quilt had been made by a sewing group that meets at the house and was on display because quilting would have been a common pass time time that women would have undertaken.

I took the idea of the tessellating hexagons and asked the children to each produce an image to add into our won manchester quilt.

Participants then had the choice of either adding their patch into the collective quilt “gallery” on display of of taking their creation home with them.

I also produced a supplementary 'fuzzy felt' tile activity that the children could experiment with.
